Jade & Hardstone Carvings

ewter This jadeite ewer, or pitcher was created in the early 20th century using rotary tools. The skill of the Chinese carver is evident as the three colors found in a single boulder of jade are used to full advantage. Calling upon his fertile imagination, the carver was able to visualize a piece that would utilize each layer of color in a coordinated, eye-pleasing way. Chinese jade carving is filled with symbolism. Each plant ad creature has a meaning.
