Explore the guzheng (Chinese zither), a 21-string harp-like instrument with Menghua Guan, instructor and performer for over 20 years and founder of Guan Menghua Music studio in Naperville. Guan has performed all over the Chicago area and in China. Her emphasis in teaching is on stage presentation, such as harmony of body and finger movements, and breath while playing. Her performance will include exploration of the over 2,500-year history of the guzheng. Depictions of the guzheng can be seen on a few of the Museum’s carvings.
