Description

Amazonite (sometimes called amazonstone) is a variety of microcline-an alkali feldspar. It is not found anywhere in the Amazon Basin, however, Spanish explorers who named it confused it with another green stone of that region. It is pale blue green to bright green and has a pearly sheen. The best green crystals have come from Crystal Peak near Colorado Springs, CO.
