Hematite is an iron ore occurring in massive form and has a steel grey to reddish color. Varieties include kidney ore, iron rose, martite, and specularite (specular hematite). While forms vary, all hematite has a rust-red streak. One of the heaviest ores found, it contains about 70% iron. Hematite is a popular material for jewelry.
