Description

Aragonite is named after the Aragon region, Spain, where pseudo-hexagonal twinned crystal forms were first recognized. Aragonite is a carbonate mineral, one of the three most common naturally occurring crystal forms of calcium carbonate, CaCO3. It is formed by biological and physical processes, including precipitation from marine and freshwater environments. This specimen of stalactite aragonite (also known as “cave aragonite” or “cave calcite”) comes from the Santa Eulalia Mining District in Chihuahua, Mexico.

This Aragonite weighs 8lbs.
