Description

Sodalite belongs to the silicate group, is so named due to its sodium content. Well known for its blue color, sodalite may also be grey, green, pink, or yellow and is often mottled with white veins or patches. Although similar to lazurite and lapis lazuli, sodalite rarely contains pyrite and its blue color is more royal blue than ultramarine. Its further distinguished from similar minerals by its streak: white rather than blue. Sources are Canada, United States, and Brazil.
