Description

Amazonite (sometimes called amazonstone) is a variety of microcline-an alkali feldspar. It is not found anywhere in the Amazon Basin, Spanish explorers who named it confused it with another green stone from that region. It is pale blue-green to bright green and has a pearly sheen. The best green crystals have come from Crystal Peak near Colorado Springs, CO.
