Description

Apache Gold, also known as “Healer’s Gold”, is bright and shiny gold Chalcopyrite in a black magnetite Schist. It’s found in “The Big Hole” copper mine in Jerome, Arizona. Legend has it that somewhere in the hills of San Carlos, Arizona lies the mysterious lost treasure of the ancient Apache Indians. The treasure, which dates back to the days of early explorer Coronado and The Conquistadors, is known as Apache Gold. Ancient Apache Indians are believed to have protected the golden treasure from explorers and other invaders to their land. Through the centuries, the treasure has been rediscovered numerous times. The bright gold of the chalcopyrite contrasts with the black of the magnetite resulting in a striking material used for cabochons in jewelry.

Oval Apache gold stone measures 26mm x 42mm.

Set in Sterling silver.
